Romanes Language (Romani)

Romanes is the language spoken by many of Europe’s 6 million Roma. Its roots are in Northern India, with others words added on the migrations through southern Asia and Europe. Many families will use Romanes as a home language and bilingual resources can be helpful, especially where children are new to schools.

Romaninet is a fantastic resource, where you can learn Romanies on line!

Why not also visit the Manchester University website, which has a range of excellent downloads related to the Romanes language.

Ideal for whole school or class assembly.  A range of powerpoint assemblies for each community group.   Each assembly contains a powerpoint file, and a pdf of a script to use with the assembly.  Assemblies end with a link to a You Tube clip with an appropriate piece of music.  They should last for 20 to 25 minutes each.
